How to effectively remove odor from towels?

When we acquire a new towel, we always love it. Soft to the touch, just the right length of bristles, and most importantly clean and odor free. Usually they smell faintly of disinfectant water or have no odor at all.

An unavoidable fact is that once you start using that towel, it will start to develop an odour if not handled properly. For example, if you ball it up without wringing it out and don’t dry it in time. Or the surroundings are too humid and prone to harboring bacteria. Even if you wash it regularly, it will still have an odour. It doesn’t matter if it’s a bath towel, hand towel or even a bathrobe, it all has this phenomenon.

How do you get rid of these odors? Do you just get new towels every time? For your better experience, we offer you several effective solutions.

1.Salt mixed with baking soda

We all know that apart from being a necessity in the kitchen, salt is also a great antiseptic in life. For this reason many housewives love it. Baking soda is even more useful. Mix the two together with water and put a towel in it to soak for a short while. When you pick them up again, they will be almost odorless.

2.White vinegar mixed with baking soda

Vinegar is a cleaning staple and works wonders in this area. It can also be used with baking soda. You can also use a washing machine if you think soaking for 15 minutes is a waste of time. After placing the towel in the washing machine, add some vinegar to the detergent compartment of the machine. Then you can wash it normally! After adding a small amount of baking soda, restart the washer and wash again. When you remove the towel, you’ll have an almost new towel. After washing, hang it on a hanger to dry as usual, or put it in the dryer.

3.Lemon oil mixed with salt

The fruity freshness of lemons should be enjoyed by many. Another way to keep towels free from odors is to use lemon oil and salt. You don’t have to put a lot, about fifteen drops of lemon oil and two tablespoons of salt. Mix them well and add roughly a litre of water. Again, it is still necessary to soak the towel for some time. After such a simple operation, your towels will be completely odorless.

These three are the easiest, and at-home, methods I can think of. The ingredients used are also very simple and I’m sure everyone has them at home. The easiest one is the combination of salt and baking soda, which even kids can fix on their own!

Hopefully with my three suggestions, your towels will stay fresh and dry forever.
